Have you watched How to Train Your Dragon? It is a movie with many amazing dragons. Some dragons are small. Some are very big. Lets talk about how big each dragon is. We will compare their size to understand them better.
Why Size is Important
The size of a dragon tells us many things. Big dragons can be strong and powerful. Small dragons can be fast and smart. Some dragons are good at flying. Others are good at fighting. We can learn what they are good at when we know the size of each dragon.
Let’s talk about some of the dragons from the movie.
1.Toothless
Toothless is a Night Fury. He is black and fast. He is Hiccup’s dragon and best friend. Toothless is not very big. He is about 8 feet long and 5 feet tall. His wings are wide, around 26 feet. He is one of the fastest dragons.
2.Light Fury
The Light Fury looks like Toothless. She is white and shiny. She is about the same size as Toothless. She can fly very fast and can disappear in the sky. She is quiet and careful.
3.Stormfly
Stormfly is a Deadly Nadder. Astrid is her rider. Stormfly is colorful and beautiful. She is about 14 feet long and her wings are 20 feet wide. She is smart and can shoot sharp tail spikes.
4.Hookfang
Hookfang is a Monstrous Nightmare. He is the dragon of Snotlout. Hookfang is big, about 20 feet long. His wings are 30 feet wide. He has a special power. He can light his whole body on fire.
5.Meatlug
Meatlug is a Gronckle. Her rider is Fishlegs. Meatlug is round and slow, but very strong. She is about 10 feet long and can fly, but not very fast. She is kind and gentle.
6.Barf and Belch
Barf and Belch is a dragon with two heads. It is a Hideous Zippleback. Ruffnut and Tuffnut ride this dragon. It is about 25 feet long. One head makes gas. The other head lights it. They have to work together.
7.Red Death
The Red Death is the enemy in the first movie. It is very big. It is about 400 feet long and has wings that are 600 feet wide. It is bigger than a building and very scary.
8.Bewilderbeast
The Bewilderbeast is an ice dragon. It is even bigger than the Red Death. It is around 600 feet long and can shoot ice. It is the Alpha dragon. All dragons listen to it.
